Google Ads for Crypto in 2026: Certification, Countries and How to Get Approved

Yes, Google Ads accepts crypto ads, but only with certification. Exchanges, software wallets and US coin trusts must apply for Google's cryptocurrency certification, hold the licence Google names for each target location (MiCA CASP in the EU since 23 April 2025, FCA registration in the UK, FinCEN MSB plus a state money-transmitter licence in the US, VARA or FSRA in the UAE) and target only locations on Google's list. India, Australia, Singapore and Brazil are not on it. Hardware wallets need certification without a licence. ICOs, DeFi trading protocols, crypto loans, signals and broker-review affiliates are banned everywhere. Since May–June 2026 you apply inside your Google Ads account: Admin → Policy → Account. Google does not list crypto as a payment method. On Telegram Ads, an Adsly Euro account is paid in any crypto and opens in 48 hours, from €650 in total.

Google will put your crypto exchange in front of people searching for one, but only if you hold the right licence for their country. That is the whole game on Google Ads in 2026: crypto is allowed for advertisers who are certified, licensed and targeting a country Google has opened. Everyone else is locked out.

Everything below comes from Google’s own policy pages, checked on 14 October 2026. The rule in four lines:

  • Certification plus a licence. Exchanges, software wallets and US coin trusts “can only be promoted in your ads if you’ve applied and been approved to advertise Cryptocurrencies and related products” (Google Ads policy).
  • A fixed list of locations. “If your targeted location is not on this list, the cryptocurrencies and related products mentioned above can’t be advertised.” India, Australia, Singapore, Brazil, Türkiye, Russia, Nigeria, Vietnam and Mexico are not on it.
  • A hard ban. ICOs, DeFi trading protocols, crypto loans, liquidity pools, signals and broker-review affiliates are banned in every country, licence or not.
  • No crypto at the checkout. Google’s payment page lists cards, bank transfers, PayPal and local methods. Crypto is not among them.

If your product, licence and country fit, Google catches buyers at the moment they search. If they don’t, the budget goes where crypto is welcome: Telegram Ads, covered at the end of this guide.

What needs Google Ads crypto certification, and what doesn’t

Google splits crypto into three groups: certification required, allowed without it, and banned. Find your product here before you apply.

Source: Google Ads, Cryptocurrencies and related products.

Two lines on that page clear up most confusion:

  • “Businesses that don’t pertain to buying, holding, or exchanging cryptocurrencies are allowed.” A hotel that takes Bitcoin or a shop selling mining rigs needs no crypto certification.
  • Hardware wallets qualify when they are “designed to hold the private keys” and “do not offer additional services such as purchasing, selling, exchanging, or trading assets”. Add buying or swapping and the wallet leaves that category.

Banned everywhere: what no certificate unlocks

Some crypto products can’t run on Google Ads in any country. Google is blunt: “Ads promoting initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, or the purchase, sale, or trade of cryptocurrencies or related products are not allowed.” Its examples: ICO presales and public offerings, crypto loans, initial DEX offerings, token liquidity pools, unhosted software wallets and unregulated dApps.

The second ban hits affiliates and media: “Ad destinations that aggregate or compare issuers of cryptocurrencies or related products are not allowed.” That covers trading signals, investment advice and broker-review sites, whatever licences the reviewed exchanges hold. NFT games where players “wager or stake” NFTs for something of real-world value are banned too, and so are “social casino games that reward NFT”.

If your product is on this list, no agency and no account structure changes the answer. The route is a platform with different rules: Telegram Ads’ public guidelines don’t name crypto at all.

For exchanges, wallets and coin trusts, Google names one licence or registration per location. You need the licence for every country you target, and a separate application for each.

The last row is the one most people miss. India, Australia, Singapore, Brazil, Türkiye, Russia, Nigeria, Vietnam and Mexico are not on Google’s crypto list (checked 14 October 2026). An exchange licensed at home still can’t target them with exchange or wallet ads on Google.

MiCA and Google Ads: the EU rule since 23 April 2025

Since 23 April 2025, Google has asked crypto exchanges and wallets targeting the EU for MiCA authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (Google: MiCA). National registrations worked only during each country’s transition:

CountryNational licence accepted by Google until
Finland30 June 2025
Germany30 December 2025
France30 June 2026

All three windows are closed. For France, Google confirmed that from 1 July 2026 it will “no longer accept registration from the AMF’s Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP)” (Google: France). A French exchange with only a DASP registration can’t win certification for France.

In August 2026 the rule moved beyond the EU: Google added Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, also on MiCA CASP (Google: EEA). One MiCA licence answers the licence question across the EU and those three countries, but you still file one Google application per location.

What changed in 2026

If you last read Google’s crypto policy in 2025, four updates matter:

WhenWhat changedSource
February 2026Indonesia opened, with an OJK licenceGoogle
May–June 2026Applications moved from the Help Center into the Google Ads accountGoogle change log
1 July 2026France stopped accepting AMF DASP; MiCA CASP onlyGoogle
August 2026Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway opened, on MiCA CASPGoogle

Google gives two dates for the application move. Its change-log post of 30 April 2026 says “Starting May 2026”; the policy page says applications “will need to be submitted through your Google Ads account starting June 2026” (Google). Either way, the Help Center form is gone. Applications filed before the change are not affected.

How to get Google Ads crypto certification, step by step

Approval is mostly decided before you open the form. Work through these steps in order:

  1. Check your product. Find it in the table above. Anything on the banned list (ICO, DeFi protocol, crypto loans, signals, review site) stops here.
  2. Check every target country. Each must be on Google’s list. Off the list means no exchange or wallet ads there, whatever your licence.
  3. Match the licence to the country. MiCA CASP for the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; FCA for the UK; FinCEN plus a state licence (or a bank charter) for the US; VARA or FSRA for the UAE; OJK for Indonesia. Hardware wallets skip this step.
  4. Use the right account. Google requires “a separate account for each end-advertiser” (Google). In a manager account (MCC), certification carries over only where “all child accounts belong to the same parent company” (Google).
  5. Apply inside Google Ads. Admin → Policy → Account → “Apply for certification” (Google).
  6. File one application per location. Certification for the UK does not cover Germany.
  7. Stay compliant after approval. Google gives at least 7 days’ warning before any suspension. Use them to fix the issue.

Why Google rejects crypto applications

Each reason maps to a rule on Google’s own pages:

  • Wrong product. The ad or landing page promotes a presale, a DeFi protocol or crypto loans, which no certificate covers.
  • Wrong country. The campaign targets India, Australia or Brazil, none of them on the crypto list.
  • Wrong or expired licence. A French DASP after 1 July 2026, a German national licence after 30 December 2025, or a licence from a different country than the one targeted.
  • Wrong account structure. An agency MCC holding a certificate for one company and child accounts for others.
  • Affiliate destination. Review and comparison sites are banned outright.

“Google Ads Bitcoin” means different things depending on what you sell:

  • You accept Bitcoin as payment. Allowed, no certification.
  • You sell Bitcoin or let users trade it. You are an exchange: certification, a local licence and a listed country.
  • You sell a Bitcoin wallet. Software wallets need certification and a licence; key-only hardware wallets need certification only; unhosted software wallets are banned.
  • You run a Bitcoin coin trust. US only, with Section 12 registration.
  • You sell mining machines or teach Bitcoin without advice. Allowed, no certification.
  • You sell Bitcoin signals or price tips. Banned everywhere.

Does Google Ads accept crypto as payment?

No. Google’s payment page lists direct debit, cards, PayPal, UPI, Pix, iDEAL, bank transfer and monthly invoicing, and says: “The payment options below are the only ones available at the moment” (Google Ads payment options). The word “crypto” does not appear. Searching “buy Google Ads with crypto” or “Google Ads pay with crypto” leads nowhere official.

Meta and TikTok don’t take crypto either. Meta lists cards, PayPal, direct debit and local methods such as Boleto and UPI (Meta); TikTok lists “bank transfers, credit card, or other payment methods” (TikTok).

Telegram is the exception among the big platforms: “You can pay for your ad with Gram — a cryptocurrency Telegram uses” (Telegram Ads). For a crypto company whose treasury sits in crypto, the simplest route is an Adsly Euro account on Telegram Ads: you pay us in any crypto, the account runs in euros, and it opens in 48 hours from payment. Open a Euro account →

Forex and CFDs on Google Ads: a separate certification

Brokers that sell crypto often sell CFDs too, and Google certifies those separately. CFDs, spread betting and rolling spot forex “can only be promoted in your ads if you’ve applied and have been approved to advertise”, with a licence per listed country: the FCA in the UK, the NFA in the US (forex only), ASIC in Australia, the OSC in Canada, MAS in Singapore, 25 EEA states and more; Chile and Denmark joined in October 2026 (Google: financial products). Google’s financial-services verification also applies on top, now including 24 more EEA markets added in July–September 2026 (Google). Forex on Telegram: forex trading guide.

Google vs Meta vs TikTok vs Telegram for crypto advertisers

Google asks for a licence in a listed country. Meta asks for written permission. TikTok sends you to a sales rep. Telegram’s public guidelines don’t single out crypto at all.

  • Meta needs “prior written permission” for crypto trading platforms, lending and investment solicitation, with a licence from 27 jurisdictions: Australia, Canada, the UK, the US, the UAE, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and others, plus national registrations in twelve European countries. News, education, NFTs, storage-only wallets and mining hardware need no permission. More: Telegram Ads vs Facebook Ads.
  • TikTok allows exchanges and custodial wallets in the UK, France and Germany with a licence, crypto in the US and Canada (no ICOs or crypto ATMs) and in Türkiye for 18+, and does not allow crypto trading platforms in Denmark. More: Telegram Ads vs TikTok Ads.
  • Telegram Ads bans “Get-rich-quick offers, pyramid schemes… offers of investment with guaranteed return” and does not name crypto, forex or CFDs. On our Euro accounts 95.6% of reviewed ads were approved (3 October 2026). Search versus channels in depth: Telegram Ads vs Google Ads.

Crypto advertising agency: what an agency can and can’t do on Google

People search “crypto advertising agency” and “crypto marketing agency” hoping for a shortcut around certification. On Google there isn’t one, and an agency that promises one is selling you a suspended account. What Google’s own pages allow:

  • Manage accounts from an MCC. “A manager account is a Google Ads account that lets you view and manage multiple Google Ads accounts” (Google).
  • Keep every client separate. One account per end-advertiser (Google).
  • Not lend you its certificate. Certification passes down an MCC only inside one parent company (Google). The licence and the certificate stay yours.
  • Earn a Partner badge, not an exemption. Google Partners asks for a 70% optimization score, “a 90-day ad spend of $10,000 USD across managed accounts” and half the strategists certified (Google). Crypto rules stay the same.

No official Google page offers “rented” or “whitelisted” accounts that skip certification, and Meta disables accounts “Created or repurposed to evade a previous account or entity removal” (Meta). A good crypto agency wins on funnels, tracking and creatives, runs the budget where your licence reaches, and moves the rest to Telegram.

Crypto marketing agency in Dubai

The UAE gives you two routes to a licence Google accepts: VARA, or an FSRA licence for a multilateral trading facility. Meta takes ADGM FSRA, the Central Bank, DFSA or VARA. Adsly’s operating company, ADS TRADING LLC, sits in Emirates Financial Towers, DIFC, Dubai. Market details: Telegram Ads in the UAE.

Crypto marketing agency in India

India is on neither Google’s crypto list nor Meta’s licence list, and no agency can change that. Telegram is the open channel: every Euro account is World, and India is one of the cheapest markets we buy. See Telegram Ads price in India and Telegram Ads in India.

Crypto marketing agency in the USA

Google asks US exchanges for FinCEN registration as a money services business plus state money-transmitter licensing, or a federal or state bank charter; coin trusts need Section 12 registration. Meta accepts FinCEN MSB or a BitLicense. With those in place, the US is open for exchange and wallet ads on Google. See also Telegram Ads in the USA.

Google and Meta for crypto, run by the Adsly team

The team that runs our clients’ Telegram Ads runs Meta and Google Ads end to end, with crypto, iGaming and forex as its specialty:

  • Infrastructure. Google Ads account, GA4, conversions, Merchant Center; on Meta, Business Manager, pixels, domains and events.
  • Funnels. Landing pages, quizzes and lead forms.
  • Tests and creatives. Copy and design, with a test plan for audiences and creatives from day one.
  • Daily optimisation and reporting. Bids, budgets and creatives tuned every day.
  • One manager in Telegram for Meta, Google and Telegram.

It starts from $10,000 a month of ad spend (your budget) plus 20% of spend. Certification and licences stay in your name, as Google requires; where Google or Meta won’t take your product or country, the same team runs it on Telegram.

Where Google says no: Telegram Ads for crypto

Google shuts out DeFi, presales, signals, review sites and every country off its crypto list. Telegram Ads stays open, and an Adsly Euro account gets you in fast:

  • Opens in 48 hours from payment. No licence to file, no certification queue.
  • No KYC. We ask only for the niche.
  • Pay in any crypto.
  • Every Euro account is World. All countries available in Telegram Ads, chosen per campaign, including India and Brazil.
  • External links allowed. Send traffic to your exchange, app or landing page.
  • A direct line to Telegram moderation. 95.6% of reviewed ads on our Euro accounts were approved (3 October 2026).
  • From €650 in total, €500 of it ad budget, for regular niches including crypto, stocks and forex. Pro Panel included.

What the budget buys: in the 30 days to 13 October 2026 our Euro accounts averaged €2.05 per 1,000 impressions, a 0.91% CTR and €0.22 per click (October 2026 price report). Targeting, moderation and a launch plan for crypto: Crypto Telegram Ads 2026 guide.

A crypto casino is a gambling product first: on Google it falls under the gambling policy, with a licence per country (Telegram Ads vs Meta vs Google for gambling). On Telegram, gambling runs through Telegram’s official gambling account, which we open even without a licence.

FAQ

Does Google Ads allow crypto ads?

Yes, for certified advertisers. Exchanges, software wallets and US coin trusts need Google’s cryptocurrency certification, a licence for each target location, and a location on Google’s list. Hardware wallets need certification only. ICOs, DeFi trading protocols, crypto loans and signals are banned everywhere (Google).

What is Google Ads cryptocurrency certification?

Google’s approval to advertise “Cryptocurrencies and related products”. You apply per location with the licence Google names there (MiCA CASP, FCA, FinCEN, VARA, OJK and others). One certificate per country, not one for the world.

Where do I apply for Google Ads crypto certification in 2026?

Inside your Google Ads account: Admin → Policy → Account → “Apply for certification”. Google’s change log says applications moved there “Starting May 2026”; its policy page says “starting June 2026” (Google).

Which countries allow crypto ads on Google Ads?

The EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (MiCA CASP), Switzerland, the UK, the US, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Argentina, Bahrain, Indonesia, Israel, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand and the UAE, each with its own licence. India, Australia, Singapore, Brazil and Türkiye are not on the list.

Is MiCA required for Google Ads in the EU?

Yes, since 23 April 2025. National licences were accepted until 30 June 2025 in Finland, 30 December 2025 in Germany and 30 June 2026 in France; from 1 July 2026 France no longer accepts AMF DASP (Google).

Can I advertise a token presale, ICO or DeFi protocol on Google Ads?

No. Presales, ICOs, initial DEX offerings, liquidity pools, DeFi trading protocols and unregulated dApps are banned in every country. Telegram Ads’ guidelines ban get-rich-quick offers and guaranteed returns but do not name crypto.

Does Google Ads accept crypto as payment?

No. Google’s payment options are cards, direct debit, PayPal, bank transfer, local methods and monthly invoicing (Google). Meta and TikTok don’t accept crypto either. To spend crypto on ads, use an Adsly Euro account on Telegram Ads, paid in any crypto.

Can a crypto agency’s certification cover my ads?

No. Google requires a separate account per end-advertiser, and certification passes down a manager account only where all child accounts belong to the same parent company (Google). The licence and certificate are yours; the agency runs the campaigns.

Can I advertise crypto on Google Ads in India?

Not exchanges, wallets or coin trusts: India is not on Google’s crypto list, nor on Meta’s licence list. Telegram Ads reaches India: every Adsly Euro account is World.

Is it easier to advertise crypto on Telegram than on Google or Meta?

For most crypto projects, yes. Google wants a licence and an application per country; Meta wants prior written permission. An Adsly Euro account opens in 48 hours with no KYC, external links and payment in any crypto, from €650 in total. Licensed? Run both: Google catches search intent, Telegram reaches crypto communities where they already read.
